About the Author

Mark von Sponeck has lived all over the world, mainly in Africa and Asia but also in the US and Europe. He is currently based part of the year in Denmark, Mozambique and most recently Myanmar. Mark is the co-founder of a non-profit organization called Global Nomads Group that connects hundreds of thousands of youth around the world to get them to learn about each others  cultures and lives and to discuss important world issues. Mark would like to inspire younger children to become excited about their fascinating world. The result is this picture book, a first in the Prince Cy Explores series.

The book is intended to teach you and your child about beautiful places on Planet Earth. Even though it is recommended for ages 4 to 10 it can be enjoyed by younger or older children or even by adults alone! Prince Cy with his magic red and yellow chair and magic white window visits ten bedrooms and ten favorite places of ten children. In this first series, Cy visits places in the following countries: Botswana, France, Zambia, Peru, USA, Rwanda, Egypt, India, Denmark and China. At the end of the book, the children explain to Prince Cy that they have created a site where many children can help by sharing their favorite places with Prince Cy and Planet Blue. The concept is that then in addition to the parent and child learning about the ten places in the book, they can go online, upload a picture of their favorite place to the Prince Cy page, and then click on other uploaded pictures, to learn about other places around the world.
