Mountain Gorilla

The Mountain Gorilla mainly lives in an area called the Virunga Volcanic Mountains of Central Africa. The area is actually split between three African countries - Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo. There are only about 790 mountain Gorillas left in the whole world. The gorillas live in groups consisting of infants, about 3 to 4 females, a few younger males and the main male gorilla or also called the Silverback. The name Silverback is because the older males have a saddle of silver or grey hair on their backs. Gorillas can be identified, the same way humans can, with fingerprints, except it is with nose prints. Each gorilla has a unique nose print!
